NBA Draft & The Jazz - SGs

So, I looked at the PGs in the first round yesterday. Not much has happened since then... there is talk that Jeff Teague could go #10 to Milwaukee, and it seems likely that Patrick Mills will fall to the 2nd round. The Kings are working out Flynn, Jennings & Holiday on Friday... could this impact pick #4? Flynn would seem like a reach there right now, but maybe he's shooting up that quickly. (As was mentioned in the comments, if the Jazz go PG at #50 instead, Tyrese Rice or someone could be a nice pick.)

So, now at #20... let's look at the SGs. The Jazz probably don't need a SG, but you never know if they go BPA. Ronnie Brewer seems to be the guy, but his lack of a jumper (it showed up and then disappeared last year) is really hurting him and the team. There's CJ Miles, who really hasn't developed. One good game, five bad ones. Repeat. Kyle Korver, if you count him as a 2-guard... and if he doesn't opt out, is a shooter (though the injury seemed to hurt him last year). He's improved his defense & rebounding too. But he refuses to take a big shot late when the Jazz need a trey. And there's Mo Almond... who almost certainly (99.9%) won't be back with the Jazz next year. The SG's to keep an eye on...

Gone (These guys have a 99.99% chance of being gone at #20... if one of them falls, you jump on him)
-James Harden (Arizona State): Could go as high as Oklahoma City, and won't fall out of the top-10 (at the worst).
-Tyreke Evans (Memphis): A combo guard that could go as high as #2 (from what I've seen).
-DeMar DeRozan (USC): Almost certainly a top-10 pick. Could go to Minnesota at #6 down to Toronto at #9.

Likely Gone (Not locks to be gone, but very unlikely that they fall to the Jazz)
-Gerald Henderson (Duke): Yes, a Duke-ster. Over/under on when he gets hurt? Seriously though, probably a late lottery guy.

Potentially There (Guys that could will likely fall to around #20, but wouldn't be major reaches there... I lie, 3 of the 4 are reaches)
-Wayne Ellington (North Carolina): Solid jumpshot, but horrible defensively. Fits right in, no? (Well, except for the jumpshot thing.) The next Mo Almond?
-Marcus Thornton (LSU): Might be a slight reach. Good at attacking the hoop though.
-Dionte Christmas (Temple): Again, solid jump-shooter. Turnover prone though, and questions about his size.
-Jermaine Taylor (Central Florida): A spot-shooter, more or less. Turnover issues. Not a good ball handler. Reach at #20.

Unlike the PGs, there aren't many options in the first round. As I stated, 75% of the "potentially there" guys would be considered reaches at #20... and there aren't many options available in the 2nd round either.

Luckily the Jazz don't really need a 2-guard (barring an unforeseen trade), but if they'd did, I guess Ellington would top the list. Simply because he's a first-round guy, while Thornton, Christmas & Taylor are, at best, late first-rounders (which I don't think #20 is).

I must say, I'm not really enamored with any of the 2-guard prospects in this draft. Anyone feel differently? Maybe it's irrelevant because the Jazz won't even consider a 2-guard.

This is where I kind of get frustrated with the Jazz. The more I think about it the more I believe that they are going to take another 2 guard. The Jazz need another late first round 2 guard like I need a new refil on the Lortab prescription. Its completely pointless, but it sure makes me feel good. And that is how the Jazz look at drafting 2 guards. Quincy Lewis anyone? How about picking up another stud for the Blaze and paying him about 15 times more than the next guy on that team.
