Could there be a bigger game for the Jazz tomorrow?  After the loss in Oakland on Sunday that snapped a 3-game win streak, a win against the league's best team (yeah, I said it) right before the break could really give the Jazz a boost.  With Boozer and AK only out a couple more games, the Jazz are poised to make a run at the division title.  After the All-Star break, the schedule looks like this:

  • 4 straight home games against Memphis, Boston, New Orleans, and Atlanta with no back-to-backs.
  • Next 4 games are @ Minnesota, vs. Sacramento, @ Golden State, then vs. the Rockets.  Again, no back-to-backs.
  • Then a HUGE, HUGE game against Denver at the ESA on ESPN.

The Jazz could legitimately go 6-2 or even 7-1 right after the break.  And given that the bottom 6 teams in the playoff race have been doing us a bunch of favors by losing winnable games, that Denver game could put the Jazz right back into the division race.  However, after that game the Jazz go east for 5 games in 7 days...yikes.  Let's start big by beating down the Lakers!

Now on to some random links:

  • Paul Millsap talks about playing the Lakers.  Too bad it's all stuff we've heard before.
  • Brevin Knight is a game-time decision.  This may actually help the Jazz considering he is 0 for his last 18 and hasn't made a shot since Jan 20.
  • Here is the Jazz's midseason report card.  I happen to agree.
  • Is this finally the Deron we've been waiting for?  He's averaging 31.6 points and 8.6 assists over his last 5 games.  I think he's finally realized that as he goes, so do the Jazz.
  • Considering Phoenix wants to move him, has anyone else considered a Boozer/CJ trade for Amare?  Just spit-balling...

Amare for Booze/CJ.
I've considered it. A lot.

I think I'd go for it too.

Throw in Collins to try and give the Suns a heads up on the free agency market for this summer.

I'd move Booz and just about anyone for Amare. My mind is boggled that KOC hasnt been up Phoenix's ass about that.

My only question would be Amare's lack of defense.

Aren't we trying to get better defensively with any move we make? If you thought Boozer was a turn table, watch Amare.

The Jazz could sign everyone from the all-defensive team, and still not improve defensively.

We're cursed, or the gameplan doesn't work well, or something... as much as I complain about it, the NBA has changed to favor the teams that try to score more than you, not teams that try to hold you to fewer points then they get.

I think there is something wrong in the Jazz defensive philosophy. I remember Korver saying all the defensive principles were opposite from his former team. And I've also heard that we try to make players go towards the middle instead of the baseline. I think we should see what other defenses are great and copy them.

Maybe we just need Jerry to go to a local elementary and watch a few Jr. Jazz games to get some ideas....

That might work...
