Random Notes

I realize it has been a bit of a ghost-town here lately, and I apologize.  In a nutshell, I have been putting school first (I know, I know...stupid, right) and True Blue Jazz has been suffering.  After the Portland debacle and the subsequent Thunderous win (see what I did there?) and Bobcat blowout, I decided to make an appearance.  It seemed fitting that no one bothered to post on Deron's injury seeing as injury news really isn't news anymore, "oh it's him today?  Whatev..."  There's a big game in the ESA against the Mavs coming up on TNT, let's all hope we bring some measure of defense to this game or it could get ugly quick.  On to some random notes:

  • The Jazz were done some favors today, the Rockets, Hornets, Blazers, and Suns (probably, down 21 in the 4th) all lost (or are going to lose).  Too bad the Mavs won (beating Portland) other wise the Jazz could have made up ground on 5 teams.  They're currently a 1/2 game back of the Suns (pre-loss).  The Nuggets won by 1 in Oklahoma CIty as well, coulda been the perfect storm of Western Conference losses.  (Wow, way too many parentheses there).
  • How bad is New Orleans without Paul?  Backup shooting guard and former Jazz-man Devin Brown led the team with 7 assists and as a team they shot 36% and had 61 points through 3 quarters...at home.
  • Have a Twitter account?  Add the Jazz and Kyle Korver, but not Boozer, it's fake, I checked.  I am carty64 if anyone cares.
  • According to the aforementioned Jazz Twitter, we may see Karl Malone sitting in for Charles Barkley tomorrow.  Karl Malone gotta do what Karl Malone gotta do.
  • Ross Siler thinks the importance of this game cannot be understated (umm...does he mean overstated?).  And they also seem to confirm the Malone/TNT rumor.
  • Did anyone else think it was weird that Popovich sat Duncan and Parker yesterday?  This isn't baseball!  Steve Luhm didn't think too highly of it either.
  • Apparently Fes and Collins are Rockband fans.
  • Did anyone else think, if only for a split second, that Collins was going to have a better game than Millsap?  It crossed my mind for that nanosecond when Collins had 6 points and 2 boards and Sap had 8 and 3.  I should know better.
  • [update] Can't believe I forgot this!  I've been waiting for years!

Jazz will probably be favored by about 4 tomorrow, I'll be back with the official line when it is released.

ha ha If the Mavs lost to Portland, the Jazz would still have only made up ground on 4 teams.

Right, I was speaking in generalities. I watched the end of the Thunder/Nuggets game and the Thunder had the ball with 5 seconds left. That's normally quite a bit of time. The play they ran was horrendous and looked like it was designed for Durant to take a LOOOOONG three from the top of the key. It was ugly

If Deron plays, the Jazz cover. If not? All bets are off.

I watched the end of the Thunder-Nugs game as well. The Thunder totally should have won that game. Westbrook could easily have created a shot on his own to win the game. Rookie mistake. He waited for Durant to get open....near halfcourt. Freaking lucky Nuggets.

Thanks for breathing life back into the site Scrum. Too be honest, I was too disgusted by the D-Will news to post. I left my typical negative comments, but could not do anything else. This game is huge tonight, however, it loses all it's luster if D-Will sits out. At that point, what can you really expect. If we win great, if we lose, how can you really get upset? Oh, well. Looking forward to it tonight. Even if D-Will doesn't go and we get rolled, we get to listen to Karl Freaking Malone attempt to fill Charles "BJ" Barkley for one night. I bet the TNT Execs are sh%^$ng bricks right now. "Please no second person, please, no second person....."
