TBJ: Delonte West. The "thing" on his face. Is it:
a. A mole
b. A cold sore
c. The result of Leprechaun inbreeding
d. unknown growth/bacteria/infection acquired from living the NBA lifestyle
COC: I've heard that question many times, and I honestly don't know the answer. But, from the information I have, my first guess is A, it's some kind of birthmark. But, I guess I wouldn't rule out D either. Let's be clear though, he had that thing before he came to Cleveland, no need for rumors to start about bacterial growth in another one of Cleveland's sports team's locker rooms (Browns). In all seriousness, Delonte is awesome and is easily the Cavalier with the best sense of humor. He is my favorite person to listen to during an interview.
TBJ: In your opinion, has The Q surpassed the Energy Solutions Arena as the most hostile environment in the NBA? (Realize that no matter what you say we'll disagree with you.)
COC: No, I would say that you guys might still have it. You've got the altitude, and you get a lot of people coming in on back-to-backs since you guys don't play home guys on Sunday if I'm not mistaken? ( TBJ: Correct. ) The Q is a great atmosphere and it's getting better by the day, and it's a top 5 arena in my opinion. But, you guys were unstoppable there last year, like we are at the Q this year.
TBJ: What would it take for the Jazz to get Mo Williams back? Allowing him to leave will be a big black mark on Kevin O'Connor's track record. Can we trade anyone for Mo Williams? Any other trade ideas you want to propose with us?
COC: Mo Williams isn't going anywhere. He has been more than the Cavaliers could have hoped for, and he is the perfect complement to LeBron. The Jazz definitely were mistaken for letting this guy go. Umm, as far as other trade ideas, I don't think we're good trading partners. We could use someone like AK47, but we aren't willing to give up much other than Szczerbiak's 13 million dollar contract for cap relief and maybe a draft pick. Or, you could always have Sasha Pavlovic back (TBJ: pass and pass).
TBJ: Carlos Boozer has said he will opt out of his contract at the end of the season. If he doesn't re-sign with the Jazz, will you agree that he has now burned Utah more than he burned Cleveland? We had him during the All-Star years so don't you think we are losing more than you?
COC: No, he burned Cleveland way worse. You got the All-Star years, but only because he went back on his word when the Cavaliers let him out of his deal (a stupid move on our part) (TBJ: An illegal one as well). The Cavs might have been able to beat the Spurs in the 2007 Finals if we had Boozer instead of Gooden. For that reason alone, we still got burned more.
TBJ: Take off your Cavs Fan hat and answer me this. Will Lebron leave Cleveland for NYC? It only makes sense on his part.
COC: Cavaliers Fan hat off, I think there is about an 80 percent chance that LeBron stays in C-town. Why? Why not? He's from here, he has a team that is young and ready to compete for several years, and he has a coach whose philosophy he believes in and an owner who spends the money to make the team better. New York and New Jersey will have bare cupboards if they sign LBJ and he will need to wait years before they are at the Cavaliers level right now. Also, the Cavaliers will have enough cap room in that summer of 2010 to sign a Bosh, Wade, Amare type player.
Thanks Kirk. I think we could see a Jazz upset here. Let's say Jazz by 4. Not sure on the line...I leave that to Scrum.
Here are my responses to Kirk's questions.
Go Jazz!
