3.10.09 Pre-Game Power Rankings

Note to Pacers, you should consider guarding these 2 guys VERY closely

As expected, the Jazz made big jumps in nearly all the rankings (except USA Today, where they're 8th, behind the Hornets and Rockets).  After 11 straight wins the Jazz are in a lot of top 5 and 6s.  As lots of people like to point out, of these 11 wins only 3 have been on the road (although if you ask Jazz fans, ANY road win is cause for celebration).  The first game of this 5-game East Coast trip was a successful smack-down of the Raptors.  Tonight's game should be pretty entertaining/frustrating, depending on how hot the Pacers are.  Without Granger they will be missing their #1 scoring threat.  Despite his absence, the Pacers went 3-1 last week, beating the Nuggets (who HASN'T beat them lately?), the Kings and the Clippers, but lost at Portland by 2 points.  So, yes, I am a little worried.  The Jazz are 3 point favorites and that's right where I thought they'd be.  If they win tonight, I think tomorrow is a trap game.  But if they lose tonight, I bet they win tomorrow.  Either way, I think the streak is about to end.  Let's hope I'm wrong.

ESPN: 5 (+2)

Fox Sports: 4 (no change)

SI: 7 (+1)

NBA.com: 3 (+1)

BLOGGERS: for the first time, not 1 blogger entered rankings.  I guess I could go put the Jazz at #1...

USA Today:  FAIL, you clearly have no idea what is going on in the NBA

CBS Sports: 5 (+2)

High: 3  Low: 7  Average: 4.8

On a sad note, I will NOT be able to attend tonight's game.  I am leaving for Vegas tomorrow and after a potential catastrophe with my plane ticket, I still haven't packed and it's almost a 3 hr drive to Indy.  I will be sending out positive vibes though.  I'll take the Jazz at -3 and the under (214) but only because Granger is out.

Be sure to head over to Indy Cornrows to talk a little trash.

Nice work Scrum.

I too am worried about the game tonight. Pacers have been able to get up for games against good teams (see LAL, BOS, CLE, DEN...check remove DEN).

I think the Jazz can pull it out. I used to think ALL Hawks games were traps, but I think the Jazz will be prepared for this version. They have been commanding a little more respect around the league.

Tonight: Jazz 108, Corn Rows 100

Too be honest Scrum, I was worried about you being at the game tonight. So, although, that sucks for you, it's better for Jazz Nation for you not to be there. We just can't afford you messing with the streak....course if we lose, it's basically all your fault. Have fun in Vegas and Go Utes! (No offense to any TBJ BYU Fans. I'll stick to the topic we agree on....the Jazz.)
Games like these always scare me. A long win streak meets up with a below average team. Great opportunity for that "below average" team to gain some confidence and for their fans to justify rooting for them another day. I'm not going to get my hopes up, however, I do like our chances. Here's to #12!

I have a slightly different thought process to the streak. I think if the team is sitting at a 7 or 8 game streak you are ripe for the upset, but once you go past 10 then all bets are off. The jazz have found their groove and will not be beating themselves any time soon. The other team is going to have to earn the win for the streak to be over. The Jazz have to much confidence and swagger right now to lose this game. I say that it will be a 12 to 15 point win for the Jazz with most of the starters being able to rest in the 4th quarter.

So much for that last prediction.

Just a little side note. You may wish to advise CB Jack against trolling other sites if he is going to be listed as one of your contributors. Bad form and all.

Blazers and Jazz tied....for 8 more (game time) minutes anyway...may the best team win. I think we may just be able to forget about the Nuggs for now.

Cheers and good luck,

A Blazer fan

Trolling? What do you call the thing you're doing?

Don't you ever...EVER...go leave a comment on another site. You know the NBA Blog rules. You can only comment on one site and it has to be your favorite team.

Troll.

Hey World....jaydubsud is a troll. Just letting you know. He commented on my Jazz site and he's a Blazer fan. So yeah...just wanted you to know...ok...just an FYI...and stuff....
