Moving On

So, we lost to Atlanta and the streak is over. I will admit that I was a little disappointed that the Jazz decided to stop trying in the last five minutes of the fourth (and that they didn’t realize the game had started until half-time), but I can live with it. The great thing about this league is that you can always redeem yourself, and I’m excited to see what this team is really made of. Sure, win streaks are great, but they always end (they are especially great when you pass Portland and Denver in the process-something their fans said would never happen. The bonus is we get to hear them revert to the old “you guys suck, and we are younger/taller/better at math/better looking/more athletic/more tattooed than you” whine-fest. Actually if you were better than us, you would be in first place, unless I’m missing something). I guess now we have only won 12 out of 13. In all reality, I am kind of happy it is over, because the pressure is off, and I have said all along that the true test for this team will be how they rebound after the streak is over. Now the Jazz really get to prove what they are made of.

I kind of have mixed feelings about the 2-day break on the road. Part of me thinks it’s a good thing because it will allow them to rest up before one hellish weekend against two good teams, but part of me wishes they were resting up it Milwaukee rather than South Beach. I think our players have their heads on pretty straight, so I think we will be OK. D-Wade has been playing out of his mind lately, and the Jazz will need to come out with energy early. I love the fact that this team is capable of coming back from 20 down within a matter of minutes, but doesn’t that mean we should be able to go up by 20 within a matter of minutes?

Both of these games are revenge games, and I’m hoping the Jazz will see the bigger picture here. I will go out on a limb here and say that Portland and Denverare actually really good teams (a courtesy that no honest Blazer or Nuggets fan would ever give the Jazz), and we need to keep winning. We can’t afford to lose. Our team is healthy, and we need to continue to make up ground. I’m sensing a breakout game from Booz since Miami all but told him to his face that they aren’t interested anymore with the signing of Jermaine O’Neil. I’m also hoping for another tank-fest from the Blazers at home against the Nets. Blazers fans: You are expected to win this one. All of us Jazz fans expect you to win this one. When the NBA planned your schedule, THEY expected you to win this one. If you don’t win, that’s on you, no excuses. Let’s just hope the Jazz take care of business as well.

With the "essential" signing of O'Neal. They commited to him long term with the trade.

Nice work Agreement. Let's hope the Jazz get some revenge in their blood. We all know what can happen when D-Will shows his dark side.

I know, I know...sometimes he scares me. I think he will be fired up. I'd love to see him have one of those power dunks right at the first of the game. Whenever he does that, my wife has to close my mouth for me.

I am going to be flying out to Salt Lake City to catch a game. Do I need to sneak booze into the game, or do they sell it at the arena. I have heard all sorts of things just trying to clarify.

Believe it or not, it is not illegal to drink beer in Utah. In fact, there are people here that get drunk! Crazy, I know. But it is the truth.
