TBJ Reader Post: I'll Take Some McNuggets with our Win Streak

Wednesday night’s game against the Rockets made me so happy that I almost went streaking down the street I live on after the game. I don’t know why, but my wife was sleeping, and I was stoked. For the sake of all my neighbors and common sense, I didn’t do it, but the thought crossed my mind.

I can’t tell you how much I thoroughly enjoy watching the Rockets lose-I don’t know what it is, but I think it probably has something to do with the emotional scaring I still have from my youth. I have tried so hard to forget about Hakeem taking nine steps before every shot, Sam “I am living proof that we are not alone in the galaxy” Cassell, Horry, Elie, and the rest of the Choke City crew, that it makes me downright euphoric to watch them lose. Throw in watching them lose with McGrady, and it’s almost a religious experience. I have to admit, my hate for them does go down significantly without Tracy in the game. In fact, it was hard not to feel cheated when the Jazz beat the Rockets the other night without him (sort of like going to Disneyland as a kid, and finding out Space Mountain is closed for maintenance on the one day you’re there-you feel ripped off), but it still felt
great.

I guess I should probably just move on with my life, but I don’t want to. I was up in Salt Lake for the Kings game last week, and
afterwards, my wife and I stayed with my old college roommate, who just happened to marry a die-hard Rockets fan (life is hard enough. I can only imagine the stress that would put on a marriage). For years I have had to hear about how the Rockets have two rings and the Jazz don’t have any. I have to constantly remind her that the Rockets are like 0-1,052 against the Jazz in playoff series since the Rockets somehow won their last ring in ’95, but it doesn’t seem to detour her at all, so I take every opportunity to remind her about how much better we are than them. Thank you Jazz for not letting me down Wednesday. I talked to my buddy after the game, and she was irate (I could hear her in the background). It made me feel good inside, like when I give money to homeless people.

Tonight the Thuggies are in town-could it really get any better? Denver beat Portland last night at home in a playoff-type game, so
once again, the Jazz will benefit from an opponent coming off a back-to-back. With Portland losing, The Jazz and Blazers are now tied for second in the division, and, if the Jazz pull it off tonight, The Jazz wil be only a half game back, with Portland a game out. Only 2 and a half weeks ago, the Jazz were 5.5 games out of first, so this game is big. I will be going to the game (it’s the biggest of the year so far-I convinced my wife that it is important to our marriage), and I am hoping we can send a message with this one. The division title is ours until we lose it, and the way we are playing, I’m thinking three in a row sounds pretty good.

Excellent work Agreement. Perhaps you can streak down State Street after the game since you're in a town where you won't be so widely recognized.

Maybe I will. Then maybe we could post my mug shot on True Blue Jazz. I could make myself look as cracked out as possible, and we could put a caption under it that says "The Jazz blowing out the Nuggets-almost as adictive as crack".

You may have to get some crack after tonight to deaden the pain. Denver is going to hand Utah a beating.
