2008-2009 Blogger Power Rankings - WEEK 4
Written by CB Jack

True Blue Jazz is excited to host this weeks Blogger Power Rankings. These rankings are put together by 28 of the brightest and most delusional NBA blogs on the Internet. We think that's a great mix. Each blog fills out their rankings and the averages are published here. We hope you enjoy the rankings as we've found them to be the most accurate on the web.

Don't like the comment next to your team? Feel like your squad is getting dissed by the blog world? Leave a comment and let them know.

Climbers: Wolves +6, Bulls +4, Suns +4, Pistons +3, Nuggets +3
Fallers:Grizz -4, Pacers -4, Heat -3, Jazz -3

1. G4it82hxi9dg55krqieloy4io_medium

Lakers
Last week: 1

A Stern Warning: If you don't know why, don't ask.
CelticsBlog: By default, and it pains me to put them here.

Hardwood Paroxysm: Things That Aren't True: 82-0,Bynum=Kareem2.0, Defense Dramatically Improved, Pau Gasol Tougher. Things That Are True: Best Team In The League.
Sixers4Guidos: If they will win the title with Radman as starter, I will fly to LA to shake Jackson's hand.
SLC Dunk: "You see? You see? They're not a machine."

2.5862_medium

Celtics
Last week: 2

At The Hive: I'd drop 'em after quite a few shaky games. Problem is, nobody else is playing that well either.
Hardwood Paroxysm: The Road to the Finals still goes through TD Northbank Garden. But they're very, very mortal.
With Malice: You gotta go through the champ to BE the champ. They're not going anywhere, they're still real.

3. Ceh1d1x1q58ef5ef9mxsugq5h_medium

Cavs
Last week: 4

CelticsBlog: Can we just give the MVP trophy to LBJ now?
Dream Shake: LeBron is MVP so far, but I'd like to see how they would do in the West
With Malice: Don't know how much longer Cleveland can do this. When LeBron leaves? Until that point in time, they should re-name the team the Cleveland LeBrons.
True Blue Jazz: Don't get me wrong, they're good, but it's still the Eastern Conference. Don't get your panties in a bunch.

4. 445_medium

Pistons
Last week: 7

At The Hive: "I'm more aggressive than Chauncey Billups," says AI. I'm sure that will sit well with the new teammates he's trying to win over.
Dream Shake: Iverson hasn't been a cancer yet. And they even beat the Lakers.
Hardwood Paroxysm: You know, that Allen Iverson, he's just a bad apple. Oh yeah? Well they just took down the Lakers. How you like them apples?

 5. Hleswchlwpdm1c2obt2focsdy_medium

Suns
Last week: 9

Dream Shake: Should be dropped lower after the Cheap Shot Scuffle on Wednesday.
Hardwood Paroxysm: Congratulations, Suns fans! No more embarrassing losses to inferior teams! Only embarrassing losses to superior teams.
SLC Dunk: NBA brawls have become cat fights.
True Blue Jazz: Nash may have surpassed Stockton as dirtiest PG?

6. 58bz6uwruz02dgqjc75emz8er_medium

Jazz
Last week: 3

A Stern Warning: Playing without their floor general hasn't been easy, but they're still managing to hang tough at the top.
CelticsBlog: Once D-Will is back, it will be only up from here.
Dream Shake: Like I'm ever going to rank them ahead of the Rockets? Haha.
(TBJ: Joke's on you Shake)
RaptorsHQ: They are still winning without Okur and Deron.
With Malice: As per pretty much every successful Jazz team, doing it quietly, and getting the job done. Deron who?
True Blue Jazz:Minus three starters and 6th man of the year for the past week. Will be dangerous if they ever get healthy. Oh and by the way, Deron is better than Paul because he'll have the ring first. Deal with it.

7. 9dtq0qlm5fg5e5nhaipw_medium

Hawks
Last week: 5

A Stern Warning: Replacing the Gatorade with Crunk Juice worked! They deserve their spot up here -- though I doubt they will have it for long.
Hardwood Paroxysm: The most balanced team in the league right now. WITHOUT JOSH SMITH. WHAT IN THE HOLY HELL IS GOING ON?
RaptorsHQ: Coming back down to earth.
SLC Dunk: Hotlanta has cooled a bit. Stupid global cooling.

True Blue Jazz:This team just burnt up in the atmosphere they are falling so fast.

8. 4793_medium

Rockets:
Last week: 6

At The Hive: Just wait till Shane Battier gets back and terrorizes backups around the league.
Empty the Bench: The wild card in this deck, Battier's return should be a boost.
Lakers Nation: waiting for the click, click, boom
RaptorsHQ: They get Artest, they start fighting...coincidence?
SLC Dunk: The Rockets fight like they play first-round series.
With Malice: We're still counting down the days until Yao has that season-ending lower leg injury. Can't be too much longer.
True Blue Jazz:Rockets/Suns Tickets: $300. Large Coke: $6. Watching McGrady get thrown to the ground like a little girl? Priceless.

9. J4q3d1rhxpdifqtfsc73gowbt_medium

Hornets
Last week: 8

At The Hive: No comment.
Dream Shake: CP3 shut down by Aaron Brooks. I did not see that coming.
Sixers4Guidos: BTW Paul is better than Deron Williams
(TBJ: You shut your mouth when you're talking to me!)
SLC Dunk: The Jazz are without 3 of their starters. What's your excuse?

10.TIE 823_medium

Blazers
Last week: 12

Dream Shake: Oden makes Yao look nimble.
Empty the Bench: It's looking like another year of seasoning may be in order
Hardwood Paroxysm: They're not what we expected, but they're gelling more and more. Brandon Roy is Truth For A New Generation.
LakersNation: Oden has played a back-to-back and come through unscathed, another milestone in his already illustrious career
With Malice: Man... I'm with Bill Simmons - I hope Greg Oden isn't Sam Bowie.
True Blue Jazz: Right when you think they're all grown up, the acne starts to appear.

10.TIE H2k5cbia6m8e1dbdcfxfgre84_medium

Magic
Last week: 11

A Stern Warning: Dwight. Howard. Eats. Babies.
Dream Shake: Dwight Howard still not better than Yao, but it's actually an argument now.
RaptorsHQ: Superman's triple double was SICK.
SLC Dunk: Orlando will stay high until they hit the gauntlet that is December.
With Malice: With the Man-beast in the line-up, on any given night this team can beat any given team. Howard is 3 parts Beast, 2 parts Gigantor, and 1 part haggis - all nasty.

12. 8sg7h2ns8fixo1yqzakt0uvwb_medium

Raptors
Last week: 10

Dream Shake: Bosh now part of the headline for 2010 free agents with Bron and Wade
Hardwood Paroxysm: Did you enjoy that brief moment of contenderhood, Canada? Back to the salt mines, dinos!
With Malice: Another team that promised much and fails to deliver on an almost-nightly basis. Jose Calderon leaks TOs like a sieve.

13. Zh38e3thbthiuo6onf8mxoaa3_medium

Sixers
Last week: 14

A Stern Warning: Those off-season changes really put them in the playoff race, didn't they??
Dream Shake: Brand makes them only slightly less mediocre this year.
True Blue Jazz: Andre Miller needs to get back to his 10 APG for this team to succeed.

14. 5747_medium

Nuggets
Last week: 17

A Stern Warning: Melo loses his cornrows and gains a floor general -- every Nuggets fan's wish.
CelticsBlog: Playing well since the trade. Playoff bound fo sho
(TBJ: Way to speak their language)
Dream Shake: Chauncey still most overrated player in NBA, and Nuggets are not going anywhere this year
Empty the Bench: Once J.R. Smith gets his head out of his a** they should be much-improved with Chauncey running the show
Hardwood Paroxysm: Amazing what having a competent point guard can do, isn't it?
SLC Dunk: Chauncey Billups project - So far, so good. Crap.

True Blue Jazz:The NorthWest division just got some competition.

15. Aa65jz06hggyuale7xmkeefka_medium

Mavs
Last week: 13

A Stern Warning: Oh how the mighty have fallen
At The Hive: Thing they regret not doing that supposed Dirk for Kobe swap?
CelticsBlog: JKidd = Donezo. He's putting up great numbers but has a pedestrian PER. That trade is going to haunt the Mavericks
Dream Shake: The ship is sinking. Fast. I guess Avery wasn't the problem.
Hardwood Paroxysm: IMPROVIN' UR TEAM. UR DOIN IT WRONG.
RaptorsHQ: Time to blow it up. Dealing Howard is the first step.
SLC Dunk: Avery preached D when he was there. Now they're back to the old Mavs and their O isn't as good.
With Malice: Better than this ranking, at least I believe. Still seem to be lacking something. Spine?

16. 6035_medium

Knicks
Last week: 18

A Stern Warning: What are they doing up here?? Oh that's right... we're only a few games in.
At The Hive: This can't be for real... right?
CelticsBlog: I can't believe I just put the Knicks this high
Empty the Bench: ETB can finally attend Knicks games sober again! Not that we would, but still...

17. Zdrycpc7mh5teihl10gko8sgf_medium

Bulls
Last week: 21

CelticsBlog: Rose is for real. The injury for Hinrich will really speed up his development
Empty the Bench: Rose is looking like a star in the making, but the rest of the roster is riddled with question marks
RaptorsHQ: Rose is playing like a 5 year pro.

18. 93lzfcfcnq125eh7etyxpuhfp_medium

Heat
Last week: 15

Dream Shake: Wade is a fantasy basketball God. His team still sucks though.
Empty the Bench: Beasley is the real deal, Chalmers is a player, and D-Wade is most definitely back
SLC Dunk: Bandwagon update. Adding 5 electrons and losing 5 electrons = neutral.
True Blue Jazz: Heat fans wishing the Boozer for Marion deal was a reality.

19. 5774_medium

Spurs
Last week: 19

A Stern Warning: This is a sad, sorry shell of a basketball team
Empty the Bench: The inevitable decline has set in, and injuries threaten to wipe out their season
Hardwood Paroxysm: Let's all enjoy putting them here for the rest of the month we can, when they get healthy and kill everyone. Also, Blake Ahearn FTW!
RaptorsHQ: Treading water. Barely.
Sixers4Guidos: I'm afraid they would have struggled even with Parker. Fresh blood needed.
SLC Dunk: Could the Parker and Manu injuries hurt them enough to miss the playoffs? As long as they have Duncan, they have a shot.
With Malice: State of disbelief. Spurs this low on a power-ranking??? Say it ain't so Pop! Will lift when Manu/Mr Longoria get back, but not before.

True Blue Jazz:NBA ankles are getting weaker, and so are the Spurs.

20. 5216_medium

Pacers
Last week: 16

Empty the Bench: Not much to get excited about in the cornrows outside of Granger's offensive explosions
RaptorsHQ: Ford's fantasy value has never been higher. Deal him.
With Malice: Days without Jermaine are long and tiring in Indiana. Being a slightly-over-.500 team flatters them.
True Blue Jazz:
 Granger? Good. Team? Bad.

21. 4dabos08gqreuybxd3bu_medium

Bucks
Last week: 22

CelticsBlog: Hanging in there without Redd. Not an awful team
Dream Shake: When does the Michael Redd trade sweepstakes begin?
Empty the Bench: Forget Darko, Free Ramon Sessions

22. E6xcf97ynbh51net1u050feuw_medium

Warriors
Last week: 23

A Stern Warning: This team's personality fell off the back of Monta's mo-ped.
Dream Shake: Don Nelson's window of opportunity closed with this team 2 years ago
Empty the Bench: Andris Biedrins is the most underrated big man in the NBA, but the Maggette hammy issues are a major concern that could linger
Hardwood Paroxysm: Keep an eye on this team. They're starting to fill out nicely. In a non-creepy way.
RaptorsHQ: Anyone can play for Nellie...except Harrington.

23. 5ggk1t3vhjd19mm1hp5xvn05t_medium

Wolves
Last week: 29

Empty the Bench: The rest of the rotation is in flux, but Big Al is solid as a rock
Sixers4Guidos: A team with Carney, Ollie and Booth shouldn't give much hope to its fans. Wait, last year's Sixers had all of them !!!
With Malice: Sheesh... only the existence of the Clips/Thunder make life more bearable for Wolf-fans.

24. 796_medium

Grizzlies
Last week: 20

A Stern Warning: You've gotta love those rookies...
Hardwood Paroxysm: The Grizzlies are one of the best fourth quarter teams. Unfortunately, those other three quarters count, too.
LakersNation: OJ Mayo is a legit rookie, in the mold of Lebron James and Deron Williams

25. 833_medium

Kings
Last week: 24

CelticsBlog: You know...I couldn't name more than 2 starters for the Kings, and plan on keeping it that way.
SLC Dunk: The Kings at 4-6 would get them the 8th seed right now. West not looking so tough.
With Malice: Days of the Kings being a threat in the playoffs are about as gone as Chris Webber's sneaker deals.

26. 806_medium

Nets
Last week: 25

CelticsBlog: Devin Harris is on fire! He's the only good thing about the Nets at this point
Dream Shake: Move to Brooklyn already!!
RaptorsHQ: Think Dallas wants a re-do on the Kidd deal now?
SLC Dunk: Already out of the playoffs with the way the teams ahead of them are playing.

27. 2170_medium

Bobcats
Last week: 26

Dream Shake: What are the odds MJ knows the names of every player on his team? Maybe 50%?
Empty the Bench: It's time to blow it up and start over - I don't like a single piece of this roster With Malice: Would they be better off if Michael Jordan actually was the majority owner? Surely Robert L. Johnson's getting bored of losing...

True Blue Jazz: MJ still finding ways to beat the Jazz.

28. 9hv4bkecugkhwoogsflfr39d9_medium

Wizards
Last week: 27

Empty the Bench: JaVale McGee the lone bright spot in what's shaping up to be a dismal season
Hardwood Paroxysm: Wiz Win! Wiz Win! Wiz Win!
(TBJ: Thanks for rubbing it in)
SLC Dunk: Wizzed all over Utah for their first W(izz).

29. 785_medium

Clippers
Last week: 28

Empty the Bench: Even a healthy Baron Davis can't make this team a competitor
RaptorsHQ: How are they THIS bad? Baron misses Nellie already.
SLC Dunk: Bill Simmons wasting money on Clippers season tickets brings me joy.

30. Qdx55wdx4akljqkvzi1s3e6t3_medium

Thunder
Last week: 30

Dream Shake: Poor Durant. Jeff Green is good, but there's nothing else here
Empty the Bench: The Durantula is in for a big season, Jeff Green can play and, um, yeah
Hardwood Paroxysm: What's blue and orange and dumb all over?
RaptorsHQ: Man this is rebuilding at it's worst.
SLC Dunk: Maybe Seattle should be happy this team relocated.
With Malice: Thunder on the horizon? A very,
very distant horizon.
True Blue Jazz: This team isn't even OK.

Again, feel free to leave a comment and make your voice heard. Thanks to everyone who participated!

Next weeks rankings will be found at Bright Side of the Sun.

Sure is. Worst. Logo. Ever.

Shake it off. We're still BFF's. Can you believe how blogs are giving the Rockets and Jazz passes? Both team ranked too high in my opinion.

Also, is there no way to "join the blog" so that I don't have to put a stupid access code in every time?

This coming from an SB Nation blog that needs my SS number, my oldest childs DNA, and my mother's maiden name in order to set up an account? Geez. McGrady gets pushed down and suddenly it's Rocket's fans against the world. :)

We did the code because of spam. But you don't need an account to leave a comment.

I was more wanting an account so I could then be lazy in the future.
