Is It Really Over?

Who cares that the Spurs went something like 2 for 38 from the three point line?  Who cares that they played the Jazz strait up for about 45 minutes while missing their 2 most important pieces?  (Duncan is no longer option 1 for this team, he looks slow and old.  The Spurs are officially Tony Parkers team now.)  Who cares that the Jazz (well, maybe just Boozer) were acting like this was game 7 of the Western Conference Finals after big baskets.  (Loved the emotion from Carlos by the way The important things to remember from last nights game are this:

  1. The losing streak is over
  2. We won a back to back on the road
  3. We found out that Eric Maynor is not superman (those were some seriously ugly push shots last night)
  4. We found out that Fes is fouling monster.  (Oh wait, we already knew that.)

Other random thoughts from the game:

  1. This hurts to say, but here it goes.  Boozer is the most clutch guy on the team right now.  I want him taking big shots at the end of close games. (I need to stop saying good things about Boozer quickly.  This is getting a little awkward.)
  2. Fes is going to be alright.  I say we keep him around for the long term as our resident big goofy center.  The difference with Fes though is that he actually has some athletic ability.  I hope he continues to develop.
  3. AK might win 6th man of the year if he can this up.  When he plays like he has the last 2 games, his contract is justified.  Unfortunately we all know that he is going to get dis-interested soon and start putting up 5 point 2 rebound games for a month.
  4. Ronnie Brewer played last night like he might be feeling a little Wesley Matthews preasure.  I liked his energy and effort.

Overall, it was an impressive win that should catapault the Jazz into a 7 or 8 game winning streak when you look at the upcoming competion all at home.  Maybe this slow start will be a distant memory over the next week or so.

Booze & clutch
written by UtesFan89, November 20, 2009
Sure, clutch. Whatever. He had a horrible 40 minutes (okay, maybe not that bad, but it was bad), and I don't see a great final couple of minutes making up for that. If he plays better earlier, or if 'Sap/Deron don't show up like they do, we lose this game.

So while I'm grateful for Booze showing up late, I'm not going to give him a ton of credit.

And re: E3... slow really wanted to win. So Deron was going to play a ton, as were Booze & Brewer ('vets'). That leaves no room for E3 to get minutes. And as we've seen the last couple of years, PGs really struggle when only playing a couple minutes/game, and try harder to impress so that they'll get more time. It's bound to happen.
