Koufos & Brewer

Just a couple of notes, via Twitter...

First, via @Lockedonsports...

The utah jazz have picked up the option on kosta koufas

And second, via @tribjazz

BREAKING NEWS: Ronnie Brewer's agent, Henry Thomas, just said the Jazz and Brewer will not be able to agree to a contact extension.

Neither is really surprising. The Jazz didn't pick up Almond's option last year, but it seemed fairly likely that they weren't going to give up on Koufos that quickly. As for Brewer... I was hoping they could reach a deal, especially after Thabo Sefolosha (taken right before Brewer in the draft) got a contract extension from Oklahoma City this week, but it didn't happen. Brewer will now be a RFA this off-season, as 'Sap was last summer. It'll be intersting to see how that ends up turning out. For now though, Brewer will need to keep playing well (for the team to do well, and for his future contract hopes) & Koufos will have to impress in the limited (most-likely) time he gets.

Unless he can learn to dribble with his left or hit an open jumper, I say let him walk.

To me it would have made more sense to let CJ Miles go so the Jazz could keep Brewer now. Other than AK and Deron Williams we won't have much defense left.
That's a pretty scary thought considering Portland and Denver are both young, deep, physical teams.
surprise
